Training for community-led ERC's

Our team is working alongside the East Gippsland Shire Council on a project to facilitate training with community members to operate Emergency Relief Centres (ERC).

An ERC is a place that provides information about the emergency support available to help the community cope with the impact of the emergency. East Gippsland Shire's emergency management team is seeking interested community members to undertake training to open and coordinate ERC’s during an emergency in the East Gippsland area. This project is designed to build local capability and capacity, and to support community members to contribute to relief activities and provide support to their own communities. East Gippsland Shire Council is currently running a local Expressions of Interest process in the training and activation process. The EOI closes on September 15. Townships requiring Emergency Relief Centre Officers include:

  • Omeo

  • Buchan

  • Mallacoota

  • Lakes Entrance

  • Cann River

  • Orbost

The training will take place during October/November 2023.

The ResilientCo team is enjoying supporting East Gippsland Shire Council in this community-focussed capability and capacity building project.

This project is jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Commonwealth

Government under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding

Arrangements.
